Localization Process Consulting (L10N)
Challenge
Our client is a global leader in supply chain management solutions supporting a software suite of over 20 products. Each individual product is accompanied by an extensive set of administrator and user documentation. As part of their strategic international expansion initiative, the company needed to address the specific documentation needs of users in their target markets. One of the main objectives was to strike an effective balance between central brand and process control from the company's US based headquarters and local ownership by the client's subsidiaries. Epic Global Solutions was awarded the contract to provide localization consulting services that would allow our client to implement localization processes and tools tailored to those objectives.
Localization Consulting Solution
The EGS consultants worked in close collaboration with our customer to gain a detailed understanding of their organizational environment, strategic objectives, product suite, and content creation processes. Based on this knowledge, our consultants developed a set of localization process and tool recommendations in line with the customer's goals. The recommendations reached from streamlining of the English documentation set and one-time creation of linguistic aides such as glossaries and style guides (thus meeting the goal of central brand and process control) to supporting the unique documentation needs of regional offices. Epic also provides ongoing localization consulting services to this customer in collaboration with our affiliate company, Translations.com.
